Once again the mainstream media bias is on display loud and clear in this opening to an article about a candidate for the Alabama governors' job:

Amid a national debate over Arizona's tough new immigration law, Republican Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tim James (and son of previous Gov. Fob James) vows in a new campaign ad that if he's elected, he'll give the state driver's license exam only in English, as a cost-saving measure.

"This is Alabama; we speak English," he says in the ad. "If you want to live here, learn it."

The headline is that it is an anti-immigration sentiment. It most assuredly is NOT. It is an anti-ILLEGAL border jumping commercial and also a reminder to legal residents that in this country we speak ENGLISH and it would be wise of them to learn it in order to make themselves eligible to drive a vehicle in this country where the road signs are in ENGLISH. That's only common sense. Anything less would be stupid. As I have said before, my grandparents came to this country in the very early 1900s from Hungary and granted, they were educated people before coming here. But they came here legally, following the rules, and they both learned to speak English BEFORE arrival. That's called being a good guest.

UPDATE: From Michelle Malkin, via my beloved cousin Stuart, here's how MEXICO treats illegal aliens:

The Arizona law bans sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws, stiffens penalties against illegal alien day laborers and their employers, makes it a misdemeanor for immigrants to fail to complete and carry an alien registration document, and allows the police to arrest immigrants unable to show documents proving they are in the U.S. legally. If those rules constitute the racist, fascist, xenophobic, inhumane regime that the National Council of La Raza, Al Sharpton, Catholic bishops and their grievance-mongering followers claim, then what about these regulations and restrictions imposed on foreigners?

-- The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset "the equilibrium of the national demographics." How's that for racial and ethnic profiling?

-- If outsiders do not enhance the country's "economic or national interests" or are "not found to be physically or mentally healthy," they are not welcome. Neither are those who show "contempt against national sovereignty or security." They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.

She is nesting on the 41st floor of the Rhodes Office Tower in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The nestcam is keeping an eye on her and [eventually] her babies. See it here.

H/T Steve H.

Two Democrats are having lunch together. All of a sudden one stands up and shouts, "You’re lying." The other replies, "I know, but just hear me out."

Yesterday afternoon we had a series of absolutely hellacious thunderstorms. During those noisy storms, I learned two things:

1. Buddy and Rusty don't like thunderstorms.
2. They both are capable of climbing me like a tree!

It's a darned good thing I was wearing SWEATS at the time! Seriously, these two boys are absolutely adamant about their dislike of loud thunderstorms and pounding rain! I can only await with dread the advent of the 4th of July celebrations in my neighborhood! We have a lot of 10-12 year olds (some chronological youngsters, some immature adults) and they all like their firecrackers way too much!

We need to show more sympathy for these people.

* They travel miles in the heat.
* They risk their lives crossing a border.
* They don't get paid enough wages.
* They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do.
* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.
* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day ~ every day..

I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans ~
I'm talking about our troops!
Doesn't it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops?

For those of you who do not live in Northcentral Virginia, this may not apply. But we here have a predicted three-day rain event coming our way. Personally, I don't plan to venture out of my house until maybe Monday. I do need a haircut but that can wait another week. I'm trying to find a climate control unit for my car - but that's an online project. Politics insist on happening all around me and I'm unwilling to deal with THAT nonsense. I don't basically give a rat's eardrum WHAT The Won is up to at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Rosary Joe Biden needs to concentrate on his beads. I don't mean to be snotty, Joe, but y'all have a lot of apologies to make to the One that created you! But as to this coming weekend, it's three lovely days to do laundry, clean my bathroom and play with the babies. Buddy and Rusty deserve and will get my undivided attention.

Have a great weekend folks!

According to an article appearing in today's Washington Examiner, the Democratic Party is! This is yet another example of the Dems claiming the Republicans to be the kind of cynical "users" that Democrats actually are, and the public seemingly is buying into their lies!

For years it was said that the GOP was the party of big business. That might have been true once upon a time, but it hasn't been the case for great while. Notably, the Democrats captured a big chunk of Silicon Valley as the internet emerged as a dominant force in the 1990s. And lately, Wall Street has been firmly in the Democrats' corner.

Despite this, Democrats still spent quite a bit of energy successfully tarring Republicans as beholden to corporate America. Well, with the Goldman Sachs scandal, it finally seems that the major media are starting to wise up about where the Democrats bread is buttered.

When oh when is the Democratic Party going to stop pushing their oh-so-holier-than- Republicans agenda and start admitting the truth?

In a report in today's Chicago Tribune, the following:

"He has been equivocal on the subject in the past, but on Monday night White House chief of staff and native Chicagoan Rahm Emanuel made no bones about it: He wants to be the mayor of Chicago.

"I hope Mayor [Richard] Daley seeks re-election. I will work and support him if he seeks re-election," Emanuel told Charlie Rose on the host's PBS talk show, in an interview broadcast Monday night. "But if Mayor Daley doesn't, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. That's always been an aspiration of mine, even when I was in the House of Representatives."

In January, after The Washington Post reported that Emanuel, a one-time Daley aide and longtime supporter of the mayor, was mulling a mayoral run, Emanuel did not deny the report. He instead said in statement that he was "100 percent focused on the job at hand: serving President Obama as his chief of staff."

Hey, Rahm old fellow, do you actually think that all the skeletons in your closet will remain sequestered therein? Do you honestly think that all the people you have stabbed in the back en route to your present job as Chief of Staff to the worst president in American history will commend you to the people of Chicago? I suspect that, with you in it, any future campaign without Daley in the mix will be a bloodbath and you will be the lucky recipient of most of the blood-letting. Karma's a bitch, fella, and you're about to get a full on demonstration of that fact!

I am, to put it bluntly, heartily sick and tired of hearing the brain-dead and largely ignorant supporters of the Kenyan wetback demonstrate for all to hear their complete ignorance of the way in which a bill becomes law under the Constitution of the United States of America. This is how the passage of laws is described by BHO's "true believers" - "President Obama passed a law that . . ."

I have heard this numerous times, from numerous moronic twits who think that the farts of the Kenyan wetback lack odor!

NO you dummies - Barack Obama doesn't pass SHIT! A bill is introduced, debated and passed within the Congress of the United States. All Barack Obama does is sign the bloody damned thing!

I hear this stupidity coming from the mouths of people who are old enough to know better! People who think they are very very intelligent. No, you cretinous yahoos! You're STUPID, willfully stupid.

So much for civility! Not possible with these nutters!

Okay people, it's time to put Tony out of his misery and vote that unbelievably inept, clumsy, lack ing in any semblance of rhythm, heavy-footed, staggering nincompoop named Kate Gosselin off the damned show. She's horrendously bad and needs to be GONE.

As always Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger danced beautifully. I enjoyed some of the other dances as well. It seemed that everyone was stepping up to the challenge - everyone that is except for the stumblebum named Kate!

Put all of us out of our misery, including Tony, and get that inept bitch off the show!

UPDATE: Hallelujah! She's GONE! And couldn't you just guess it - she CRIED! Those tears were as believable as Pamela Anderson claiming to be a virgin!

So far the Tea Party movement has shown remarkable restraint in demonstrating their justified anger at the unconscionable agenda of the Democratic-controlled Congress and the most Left-Wing President this nation has ever had and, arguably, the worst president this nation has ever had.

As a group, most conservatives are well behaved, polite and considerate people, all foul canards thrown like bombs to the contrary. We do not believe in throwing feces or urine at police personnel, nor do we revel in beating our fellow citizens into bloody symbols of our rage.

I find it absolutely unbelievable that those people who were so delusional as to call President Bush '43 such things as "chimp" and "Hitler" are so outraged and emotionally enraged when we quietly suggest that Barack Hussein Obama is a socialist. And because this absolutely thin-skinned half-white person is half-black, then of course to the minds of the Democrats, ANY criticism of their chosen idol is racist in the extreme. Bullshit! Do we really need to remind the Democrats that it was legislators from their own party who voted against Civil Rights on numerous occasions. In fact, it was Jackson Democrats who were most invested in the preservation of slavery and who were in no way prepared for slavery to end. Remind them of this when they are in full rant and watch their eyes spin counterclockwise! Particularly when you remind them that it was a Republican (Abraham Lincoln) who actually freed the slaves!

There is no way to shout down these idiots. Their ability to reason and perform tasks of critical thinking is so impaired as to be almost negligible. One must speak to them very very softly. The more they rant and rave and utter spittle-spewing imprecations against people who inhabit the middle and right ground, the more softly we must speak. This can garner several good results. First, the more softly a person speaks, the more effort must go into hearing that person. Theoretically, if you only speak to a person in a voice barely above a whisper, that person must concentrate on every word you say. Also, if we are speaking in a soft, non-threatening tone and the other guy is ranting and raving and foaming at the mouth (either literally or figuratively), we cease to look like the loser in the conversation! Forcing them to acknowledge facts is a wonderfully effective strategy and one we should be employing as the crucial November elections draw nigh.

Finally, my largest concern is that we somehow, as Republicans and conservatives, lower ourselves to Rahm Emanuel's level. That inclination must be resisted at all costs. The best thing about the political processes in this nation are that it is a permanent fix.

It's an easy charge to make - and a difficult charge to disprove. But one thing I do know, nobody that I know personally in the tea party movement is a hater. Like me, I believe they grew up believing that people should be accepted as good and worthwhile, unless they prove themselves to be the contrary. Harboring hatred for any of your fellow humans does you far more harm than it does the objects of your disdain. So don't do it. It's a self-defeating and utterly horrendous way to put yourself through a living hell. Anger, jealousy and bad feelings will hurt the hater far more than the object of the hatred. Why let such negativity eat away at your soul. I firmly believe that if one greets the dawn with a smiling face and a genuinely happy heart, many ills of the world will cease to have effect.

Let's try being positive and kind to one another instead of foolishly racist and negative.

In November 2008, a bunch of ignorant idiots went to the polls and voted in Barack Hussein Obama as our President. Since taking office, this incompetent yokel and his horrid wife have embarrassed the United States numerous times in front of the entire world. Enough already. Someone needs to sit this juvenile sociopath down and teach him some damned manners. The American president doesn't bow to a dictator. An American president doesn't shake his finger at another world leader whose nation is our ally. But then, do we really believe that this Kenyan wetback is truly our AMERICAN president?

I've never been sure that the "birthers" had a leg to stand on but I am sure that this clown doesn't behave in a presidential manner. Nor has he ever stopped campaigning long enough to govern as he is elected to do and as he is required to do by the Constitution of the United States, a document on which he claims expertise but which he seems hellbent on ignoring!

Read it here.

Prior to the start of the Masters tournament, Tiger Woods averred he would not use profanity and throw his golf clubs during the Tournament. Clearly, if you were watching on Saturday, that was not the case. If you watched, you heard him yell, "Tiger, you suck!" and also use loud and sacriligious profanity.

Tiger, dear lad, you are attempting to rehabilitate your image which now portrays you as a spoiled, self-indulgent jerk. This performance was not the way to do it.

Would it be possible for you to accept that you are not the center of the entire world's attention and that other people's feelings and sensitivities are worth attention? In other words, stop behaving like an entitled BRAT!

What would have gone a long way towards making people forget how bad your on course behavior truly was would have been for you to man up, walk up to Phil Mickelson and congratulate him sincerely considering that the man has been going through hell during the past year with real problems that are not self-generated! Got it? I doubt it!

Last night, once again Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger were fantastic and also once again, Kate Gosselin was appallingly bad!

I find it offensive that this four-star bitch of a woman actually seems to think of herself as a victim! What's up with that? She is a grasping, cold, ultimately self-absorbed and utterly unlikeable creature who has two left feet, no rhythm and no ear for music! She moves with all the grace of a drunken female elephant. It is patent that she does not listen to her partner, the ever-patient Tony, and what little she does process she seems to want to argue about. She's a rank amateur and yet, she seems to think she has to be right all the time.

Luckily, she was at the dead bottom of the leader board and could be gone tonight! At last and for the benefit of all viewers of the show!

UPDATE: Seriously? She's still on the show? What the hell is going on. At least Aiden is SEXY - which heaven knows Kate Gosselin is not! She is doing everything in her power to milk her 15 minutes of fame and we're being complicit! Get the smarmy, clumsy bitch GONE already!

New Jersey is the most entertaining state in the Union in many ways. They have a new (Republican) governor in Chris Christie, who is having issues with the following:

"Christie spokesman Mike Drewniak said the governor wants Bergen County teachers union head Joe Coppola fired for his "irresponsible" memo. The memo from the Bergen County Education Association to its locals included a closing prayer that read:

"Dear Lord this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor."

Jeez - if someone wrote that prayer and substituted the name of - oh, I don't know - Barack Obama for Chris Christie, you'd hear Democrats shrieking from rooftops! But when the shoe is on the other foot, they see no harm, no foul, no reason to man up and deal with the offense! Double standard indeed! You see them every-damn-where!

Everybody is so hell bent to get their hands on Dr. Utopia's birth certificate. Why aren't they filing a Freedom of Information request for the s.o.b.'s I-9s (the ones he had to sign to get his Senate paycheck or the one he had to sign to get his presidential paycheck)? Either one will give us some good information about his origins!

As if those people aren't suffering enough, this:

MONTCOAL W.V. — Protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to the Upper Big Branch mine Thursday morning to convey the message that the explosion there that left 25 miners dead was a result of e-mail messages allegedly sent from West Virginia threatening the Church and its publisher, according to a statement from the Church. The church, which is led by Fred Phelps, has attracted attention in recent years by showing up at funerals for soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. At those funerals they carry signs that say that God hates homosexuality
We are definitely in a state of total insanity folks. Isn't there some law against ignorant doofus behavior? I know a lot of fine people from West Virginia. They are courteous and gentle people who are always kind and helpful to others. But if these bozos show up and do anything at all to insult those who mourn their lost family members, I have a feeling that an ass whupping will ensue. Wish I could be there to help!

The "tool in chief" had this to say in responding to Gov. Sarah Palin's criticism of his nuclear policy:

Obama: Palin's No Expert on Nuclear Strategy
Obama was responding to a comment Palin made on Fox News' "Hannity," comparing the president's plan to a kid asking to be punched in the face on the playground and vowing not to hit back.
Sarah Palin is no nuke expert, President Obama said Thursday in a TV interview, responding to Palin's criticism of Obama's new nuclear strategy. Obama was asked about a comment the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee made on Fox News' "Hannity," comparing the president's plan to a kid asking to be punched in the face on the playground and vowing not to hit back.

"Last I checked, Palin's not an expert on nukes," Obama told ABC News. "If the secretary of defense and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are comfortable, I'll take my advice from them and not Sarah Palin."

With all due respect, Mr. President, neither are you an expert! And your sophomoric ignorance and inabilities are endangering our nation!

UPDATE: Leave it to our Sarah!

Palin: "Now, the President, with all the vast nuclear experience he acquired as a community organizer, a part-time Senator and a full-candidate -- all that experience, still, no accomplishment to date with North Korea and Iran."

You go girl!

Stupak to retire, putting seat in play
By: Mike Allen and Josh Kraushaar
April 9, 2010 08:47 AM EDT

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), who had a central role in the health reform fight as the leader of anti-abortion Democrats, plans to announce Friday that he will not run for reelection, a Democratic official said. Without Stupak on the ballot, the seat becomes an immediate pickup opportunity for Republicans.

"Now with health care done, he’s retiring," a friend said. "He has thought about retiring for the last three cycles, but was always talked into staying: to elect John Kerry to help end the war, to elect a Democratic majority to get health care done.

President Barack Obama called Stupak on Wednesday and asked him not to retire. Stupak, 58, also resisted entreaties from Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), the dean of the Wolverine State delegation.

Republicans immediately attributed Stupak's decision to step down as a direct consequence of his health care vote.

“After selling his soul to Nancy Pelosi, it appears that Bart Stupak finally found the courage to tell her no," said National Republican Congressional Committee communications director Ken Spain. "The political fallout over the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare has put the political careers of many Democrats in jeopardy thanks in-part to Stupak’s decision to abandon his alleged pro-life principles."

Republicans believe that other pro-life Democrats, like freshman Reps. Steve Driehaus (D-Ohio) and Kathy Dahlkemper (D-Pa.), will also face serious trouble because of their support for the health care legislation without strict anti-abortion provisions.

Stupak plans to continue to live in the district, the Democratic official said. He plans to say that as he opens a new chapter, he will continue to serve the people of the First District, just not as their congressman.

I don't imagine that being targeted by the Tea Party Express had anything to do with this? Naw - that would imply that our lawmakers are actually capable of listening to their employers! I also have to say that if you're going to retire, there's no prettier place on the planet in which to do it. I absolutely LOVE the Northern Peninsula of Michigan - especially a little place called Lake Autrain!

Those naifs who voted for Barack Obama are now meandering about wondering where their free mortgage payments and free health care can be found!

I don't mean to sound elitist but shouldn't there be an IQ test before people are permitted to vote? Seriously!

McClatchey News Service is reporting today:

WASHINGTON — Two weeks after President Barack Obama signed the big health care overhaul into law, Americans are struggling to understand how — and when — the sweeping measure will affect them.

Questions reflecting confusion have flooded insurance companies, doctors' offices, human resources departments and business groups.

"They're saying, 'Where do we get the free Obama care, and how do I sign up for that?' " said Carrie McLean, a licensed agent for The California-based company sells coverage from 185 health insurance carriers in 50 states.

McLean said the call center had been inundated by uninsured consumers who were hoping that the overhaul would translate into instant, affordable coverage. That widespread misconception may have originated in part from distorted rhetoric about the legislation bubbling up from the hyper-partisan debate about it in Washington and some media outlets, such as when opponents denounced it as socialism.

"We tell them it's not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014," McLean said.

My two new loves are settling happily into their home and developing some entertaining personality traits.

When they first came to live with me, Rusty hid a lot and was very shy and reluctant to socialize with anyone, not even me, except when food was being offered. Now he has discovered the pleasures of sleeping at the foot of my bed and receiving enormous amounts of affection whenever he happens to be close to me - and he makes it a point to be close to me as much as possible.

Mischief-maker Buddy is no longer the true alpha cat who first came to live with me. As Rusty has gained in confidence and comfort in our home, he has begun to assert himself to the point that the relationship is much more balanced than in the beginning. Sunday, they sat on the sofa, having a stare down. Rusty had provided himself with a slightly higher ground by sitting on a small cushion. They'd stare at each other for as much as 5-10 minutes, with one paw half raised and then one or the other would smack his brother in the face. Rusty was doing most of the smacking. To Buddy's astonishment. This went on for nearly an hour, by the end of which time I was laughing so hard I had trouble breathing and tears were running down my face!

Now that Buddy can no longer boss his brother around as in the past, he has taken to other pursuits - such as trying to hide my car keys. He has apparently made the connection that when I have those keys in my hand, I'm leaving him and he doesn't care for that at all! Lucky for me, the keys make a LOT of noise when they're being dragged across the living room floor by an industrious feline and besides that, Rusty loves to rat his brother out!

To say that I am besotted is gross understatement! They are a pair of beautiful, funny, delightful companions.

Just when you thought that Kate Gosselin couldn't get any worse, she proves you wrong! I have never seen anyone who is as utterly devoid of dancing ability in my life and I've observed some really bad dancers! Puh-leeze people, quit voting to keep her on the show! Put us all out of the Kate-created misery.

Buzz Aldrin is equally bad but at least he's a likable enough fellow and a real American hero. Let him keep dancing for another week.

But PLEASE let's kick that incompetent, lead-footed, stumblebum Kate Gosselin off the show!

Evan Lysacek once again danced brilliantly. Nicole Scherzinger was also quite good. I pretty much have started ignoring the judges' comments because bottom line - these two are entertaining as hell and well worth watching, regardless of any technique deficiencies. Much was made of Evan dancing with two broken toes. Didn't surprise me. That's what skaters DO! When I was skating (badly) back in my more athletic youth, I broke every toe on both feet at least twice. After the 2nd broken toe, I even started setting them myself! Didn't seem like a worthwhile trip to the doctor who did precisely what I could do on my own!

UPDATE: Well, Buzz Aldrin is gone but that bumbling, stumbling poor excuse for a dancer is still there - yes, indeed, Kate Gosselin, she of the almost overwhelming self-regard and utter lack of coordination or grace has survived to dance another day. Are they serious?!!!

A group calling itself The Guardians of a Free Republic sent letter last week to at least 30 of the nation's governors, demanding that they step down from office or "they will be removed" - an implied threat at the very least. As is so often the case with groups of this type, there's a vast conspiracy theory in operation accompanied by precious little actual knowledge of how our government works. For an example, they have been known to opine that these governors are not lawfully elected. What the hell?! I don't know about y'all but I know for sure I voted fair and square for the governor of Virginia - his campaign sign is still in my yard - and he hasn't been in office very long but so far, he's been doing a good job.

The members of this group see no reason why they cannot take their various claims of illegalities directly to the Supreme Court, thereby bypassing the various lower courts. Hey dummies, it just doesn't work that way! Learn how stuff works, learn the rules and the historical context and then open your moronic yaps.

People like this group frost my hide good and proper. They make legitimate right-wing people look foolish with their rather goofy antics and weird belief systems!

Kindly knock it off you pernicious buffoons!

Rejoice! For the Lord God has kept his promise and has risen from the dead. He died for our sins - and yet we keep repeating them. He died to redeem us and yet we seem unwilling to live a life of goodness.

On this beautiful Easter Sunday - let us renew our promise to do better and serve him with our well lived and prayerful lives.

God bless to each and every one of you.

This is not an April Fool joke, folks, this is an actual Congressman suggesting that the Island of Guam will be so overloaded with American troops (some 25,000 currently) that it will "tip over" - the Congressman's questioning leading up to this astonishingly stupid comment is equally moronic! Watch and listen here! Who voted for this idiot?

I give full marks for patience to the Admiral who is being questioned by this knucklehead!

One of the least enjoyable parts of aging is that you lose a lot of beloved friends to death. Sometimes it's avoidable (David's drug addiction and death from overdose and his mother's subsequent suicide by self-neglect) and sometimes, as in the case of my cousin Linda's former husband Johnny, it's due to an aggressive form of colon cancer that evaded a colonoscopy a little over a year ago and ended his life within a very short time frame.

No matter how these beloved family and/or friends have left this earth, they are still deeply missed. And since this is the day before Good Friday (what were those idiots in Davenport, Iowa thinking to want to rename it Celebrate Spring Day?!), today is a good day to consider those beloved lost ones and offer up a prayer or two in their honor. In July I will turn 68 years of age; I have lost both parents, four grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Many friends have died as well and their absence from my life is an ongoing source of pain.

So I will pray for those I have lost and also pray for those who remain and are more cherished by their very continuation in this life of mine. I will also pray for the Kenyan wetback and his family - that they may remain safe until that time when we can kick his skinny ass out of the Oval Office legally!

God bless, Happy Easter!
